Description
NEW - REPRODUCTION ALLOY COOLANT RESERVOIR BOTTLE.
LOWER NIPPLE IS THE SAME SIZE AS THE CORRESPONDING NIPPLE ON THE ENGINE SO A HOSE THAT IS THE SAME INSIDE DIAMETER ON BOTH SIDES CAN BE USED!
USES CAP 10229, NOT INCLUDED.
COMMENTS FROM A CUSTOMER THAT INSTALLED IT: The tank fit perfect. The only things I did to it was to have the bleed off nipple up at the filler spout welded up so it has nice tight fit, it
will never come loose. I also carefully and lightly media blasted the exterior of the tank for a nice even finish. Just me being picky. ;)
The bleed nipple came loose and I don't know if it was something I did when I was detailing & getting the tank ready for installation. I didn't want to bother you with this as it was not a big deal really.
At any rate I am very happy with the tank! No leaks and the engine temp stays normal in all kinds of conditions.
BTW: Compared to the stainless steel tank (a Fiat x1/9 version) I had in the car this tank fits like the proverbial glove over a hand. All the hoses even fit with the OE fittings on the engine too...didn't have to change one.
BTW(2) I learned a fundamental thing; aluminum has a different expansion coefficient compared to steel (dugh!). When the engine was run for awhile at full temp I would hear a popping sound after taking the car for a drive, when
parking it just before shut off, for example... a fairly loud pop from the passenger side rear corner could be heard. Of course it was the aluminum tank expanding against the steel mounting brackets (all OE brackets, no mods on the car). I could be wrong but I think it was the very top bracket on the car, the one with the single mounting bolt that was the culprit for making the noise.
Anyway what I did as simple experiment to stop the noise was to back off the each of the three mounting bolts about a 1/2 turn at the most, as they were a bit too snug. Now there is no more popping sound, the tank has tiny bit of room to expand but is very secure and it aint going anywhere. I suppose nylon washers would also do the trick as well.
The bottom line is the tank fits like a glove in a stock Scorpion and a 0.9 (13lbs) bar cap keeps everything nice and normal in the temp range.
So you can estimate your shipping costs from www.ups.com or www.usps.com (this form required for all US Post shipments http://www.fiatplus.com/postal-agreement-pg-6.html ), this item weighs less than 10 pounds, and can be shipped in a 11 x 11 x 11 box.-
