C. Obert & Co Tech Tip - March 1999

Back to Tech Tips
What a Long Strange Trip it's Been . . .
Or, Wherefore Art Thou, Service Department?
Back in late 1998, we were forced to change our company name by a rabid lawyer at Fiat USA's
New York office. As if that wasn't hard enough, in February 1999 we pulled up stakes and gads
and gads of inventory and moved lock, stock and windshield wiper to 2131-D Delaware Avenue,
on the windy westside of our fair city of Santa Cruz. We then split FIAT PLUS into two
companies: a full auto repair service called C & C Auto Service and the parts
business as C. Obert & Co.. You can read all about the change in this March 1999 Tech Tip.
Then, after Chris went nearly insane working 10-18 hour days seven days a week running two
separate businesses, we sold C & C Auto. On the surface that meant we had no more Service
Department. That's not exactly correct.
Chris still loves to repair and restore great Italian cars, so he's still at it, but now it's strictly
BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
So if you'd like the Fiat Freak Extraordinaire, Mr. Chris Obert, to work on your car, don't
hesitate to call to set up an appointment. Please note however that:
- All Service work is done after hours and on weekends, so delivery dates will NOT be quick.
- Chris will only take on work he believes he can do to excellent standards. That is, you
must be willing to pay for top-quality, excellent service. Don't forget the old saw: you get
what you pay for!
- Cost and arrangements for delivery and pickup of your car from wherever you live to Santa
Cruz will be up to you. Consult our map
to see if this is do-able for you.
- References available upon request.
Hope that clears up some misconceptions that go all the way back to our FIAT PLUS days.
