Is an electronic Starfire ignition system available for a 1972 Spider 850 ? If so, what price do you sell it and do you have it in stock ?

Unfortunately, the man who made the Starfire system was killed when his VW Bus was run over by an 18-wheeler late one night about four years ago just north of Paso Robles, California. We joke that the unit's lifetime warranty is up, and Dave would have liked the joke.

Fortunately, his product is excellent. I still have not had any claims, and we sold over 50 of the units before that fateful night.

Instead, we suggest the Autobianchi Abarth A112 70hp distributor and control unit. New distributors (#4451130) are special order new, a rebuilt unit was $285.50 PLUS a core charge of $100.00 in August 2002 (price will be different now ). Used units are also available, and cost about the same as a rebuilt-plus-core. These are just as they come out of junk cars in Italy. I inspect them, and they will work, but they are still USED, so there's no guarantee on their longevity!
