Dear Chris,
Let me introduce myself. My name is James and I have many questions for you. First a brief history--I recently purchased a '62 Fiat 600 D, and it needs ALOT of T.L.C. My main concern is getting it to run since it has been sitting since '85 with the head off, therefore causing the engine to seize. I would like to keep my costs down by using what I already have, but would appreciate any info you can pass on about rebuilding and/or hopping it up (it's a 767...I hope).

Don't bother. Consider using an 850 motor of which there are three choices (817cc, 843cc, and 903cc), or if you want more power use an Autobianchi Abarth A112 70hp. Want more? The use the A112 as the base, and make modifications. 100 hp is easily available using the 8-port big valve PBS cylinder head.

Next I would like to know about hopping up the front suspension,

You want to raise the car so it hops, like the Mexicans do to American iron? Sorry, I know nothing about it.

I've heard early Spider's will adapt.(?)

??? All 600 "Spider" type of cars, like an Allemano or a Zagato, all use basically the same stuff as is currently in your car! The leaf spring is different, but that is because of the lighter body weight and the lower ride height.

If you want to make the car "hop" you probably will need to get completely away from all the stuff Fiat used! If you just want to improve the handling capabilities, let's talk!

Third, I need all the rubber kits for the body and glass . . .

Sorry, these are not offered as "kit", they are all offered as separate items. If you tell me the items you would expect to see in a kit, them I can toss them all in a box and write "kit" on the outside for you!

. . . gasket kit

For the engine? Transaxle? I have them all...

. . .front windshield.

Part number 4007619, in stock.

Maybe a catalog might be easier for some of this.

Probably! Go to our Download Center and download our current list. Once you have the list, look in the back under books and manuals. I would suggest photocopies of both the body and mechanical parts books for your car, then you will see exploded diagrams of everything Fiat felt should come apart, and get the part numbers so our list makes sense.

I also was thinking of bartering or swapping some of my old parts for exchange for the parts that I need.(?) Any and all help or knowledge would very much be appreciated.
Sincerely, James Wyant

Great! All you've got to do is find someone who has what you need and you have something they need! Alas, that someone probably isn't me, as I already have more used parts than I'll ever be able to sell!

Good Luck,
Chris Obert
