1983 FIAT X19

1983 FIAT X19
USED- 1983 Fiat X/1-9 $3950 obo
64,843 miles

I bought this car from my mechanic who built it for weekend autocross events. Originally it had been built by one of the Denver Fiat shops, I'm not sure which one.
My mechanic then went through it again trying to get every last bit of handeling and power out of it that he could.
He sold it to me 'cause he was too busy to race, and now I'm too busy also, plus I'm moving.
It has about four weekends worth of racing on it since most of the work was last done. Zero days on tranny.
It sat in my garage all winter and started instantly when I cranked it up a couple of days ago(4/21/10), with absolutely no traces of smoke.
Car is ready to race.
Engine is built with forged pistons and rods, balanced and blueprinted. Head has been gone through, ported with upgraded valves and springs.
My mechanic tried four different race cams before he settled on the ones with the widest powerband possible. I don't know which cams it has but is does have great power for a 1500.
Custom header.
Oil cooler.
Intake manifold cooling fan.
Adjustable for A/F ratio fuel injection, with exhaust temp gauge.
Cross drilled rotors, new racing pads, new battery.
Race harness.
Lightweight Chromadora wheels with brand new Yokahama Advan autocross tires. Fronts are shaved and trued.
Have brand new Sumitomo all season street tires for it also .
Have set of super lightweight Momo racing wheels also. (First picture).
Tranny was gone through last fall with new syncros, and some other new parts, and filled with special Fiat 90w.
Suspension was built for racing with new coilovers and bushings, etc., and has very few miles on it. It is stiff but not that bad on the street. Shocks feel like new.
I drove the car on the street for about two hundred miles, around where I live and it handles like a go cart. I also have a '90 Civic autocrosser that handles amazingly, and creams much more expensive cars at autocross events, and this X/1-9 outhandles the Civic. It is superb. Very well balanced.

It needs a few little things like the left headlight doesn't raise automatically, but I just do it manually.
If I get time I will fix it.
The paint is faded and there is some suface rust around the windshield(picture). Other than that it is for the most part rust free. There is a smal dent by passenger door handle (picture).
Passenger seat needs redone, but the interior is really pretty nice.
I t should probably have a new timing belt installed before racing it, because even though it doesn't have many miles on it , it is probably dried out some from just sitting in this dry Colorado air. I have a new belt, and will try to find time to install it.
