1979 X1/9
A GREAT running car that is well sorted out and handles great with KYB struts and was obviously previously owned by an
enthusiast
. Everything works except as noted below, even the clock keeps time and the interior light works!
Recent work includes major service and repairs needed in order to pass California emissions tests, passes (with blow by hose removed from air cleaner & road drafted): idle HC @ 9 PPM, CO @ 0.0%, 2500 RPM HC 22 PPM, CO 0.66%. Carburetor is modified so secondaries open with accelerator pedal. Tires are currently OK but mismatched on three "tron" alloy wheels & 1 128 steel wheel. 4 correct steel wheels with worn out tires can be provided instead, or even a 4th tron wheel with or without a worn out tire. Third gear syncro ring is weak (if you are good you can easily shift it, but without experience or if you are in a hurry it will grind) so a transaxle rebuild is in the future. The engine has blowby and will need to be rebuilt to pass California emissions testing. Can be run as it, I did it for years! Power is down & fuel consumption is accordingly lower than a motor in top condition. Currently painted poor quality forest green paint on top of the original silver paint. Car seems straight and mostly rust-free. There is a small amount of rust starting around the base of the windshield that needs attention. The windscreen is cracked (we stock factory new ones), the upholstery is in very good condition, but has some stains that will require painting the material to get them out. The carpet has some worn places, there are some wearing out coco mats in there to cover the holes. At this price the new JVC AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo and speakers are missing, but for an extra $250.00 I'll keep them in. The heater valve control lever (included) needs to be replaced. And it has the typical sticky brake pedal to clutch pedal shaft bushing. The car was aligned, but updating to Plaia suspension improvements components is highly suggested (as with ALL X1/9s!). The paperwork is currently in my name, but the car is officially non opted with the state of California because of the blowby issue. Parts not seen mounted in the photos are mostly included, the previous owner had started removing them so he could paint the car. I have never bothered to put them on. A list can be provided upon request.
Current invoice for repairs to date is at $5,217.09, get this project sorted out project car with no hidden issues that has HUGE potential for being a great car again at a great discount.AND you can drive it home! A great opportunity to get a good car that only needs a little work and was my daily driver when it's registration was up to date. *
