FOR SALE
1970 FIAT 850 Spider
This is a very fun car to drive, with a removable hard top. Very rare find.
Car currently does not run. I tried to get it running. New dist. Cap, rotor,
condenser. It has spark to the plugs, gas to the carb. It should run easily,
starter seems a bit weak. This car needs a bit of work to be drivable, but has
awesome potential with the right owner.
This car is 99% complete, perfect for restoration. It even comes with the
original tool kit, owners manual, and books that came with the car from the
dealership. Body is nearly perfect, just 2 very small dents (one on each side,
probably from other peoples car doors). The engine is the real gem though. It
has only 28,000 miles since it was professionally rebuilt in December 1996 at
Ron Powers Performance Machine Works. Ron Powers usually built race engines,
but agreed to rebuild this engine as he was friends with my family. He built
PRECISION engines and this is no exception. Nothing was skipped, every part
used to rebuild it was either new or in perfect condition. I have a fully
itemized receipt showing everything that was done to the engine. Too many items
to list here, but if interested I will provide you with a copy to see for
yourself. A total of $3400.00 for the rebuild. It was done right. Please see
the receipt so you can see how the
engine was built.
The car has only been driven about 45 miles since 2001. Before then, I drove it
daily for about 4 years. It had transmission issues so I parked it, it sat for
a few years outside with a tarp over it which pretty much ruined the paint
finish. In 2004, I bought a rebuilt transmission and installed it, but by that
time the brake master cylinder had started leaking to the point of failure. I
drove the car roughly 25 miles (using the E-brake), and then it sat at my new
house for a few more years, then I moved again and drove the car about 20 miles
(E-brake again) to the house where its been sitting in the garage since 2007.
The rebuilt transmission has only 45 miles on it, but I can't find the receipt.
(It was about $650.) The other parts that I have replaced I have receipts for.
These include: alternator, window regulators, clutch cover and disk assembly,
radiator overflow tank, starter, locking gas cap, rear shock absorbers, radiator
fan shroud, clutch cable, front brake caliper kit, fuel pump, water pump,
radiator cooling fan.
The car has the rare removable hard top, complete with the body piece that
covers the cargo area when the top is removed. I also have two sets of running
gear for a soft top that I will include with the car.
The car was last registered in Nevada, but it has a California title. Paperwork
should be no problem. No smog required in CA because it's pre-1975. $1500 or
